This Neil DeGrasse Tyson beef with B.o.B is epic. There seems to be a rejection of science by a lot of folks which makes absolutely no sense to me. I definitely feel like this dude from Nacho Libre.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson was on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and in NGT fashion epically schooled the masses about SCIENCE. Which you can see here: Neil deGrasse Tyson's B.o.B Smackdown. This bit was so gif worthy that I couldn't help myself. And I proudly present NGT and his Science Mic Drop: GRAVITY PEOPLE!

It's 2016 and I am so happy to share this Oblivious Interview with folks. I have been a fan of the Passion Planner story and the woman behind the planner for quite some time. When I first saw the videos about how Passion Planner came to fruition I thought to myself "It's a small Filipino world out there. There's got to be a way I could connect with her." And low and behold, through the magic of Facebook I was proved right. Many thanks to Lily Prijoles, a previous Oblivious Interview, for the introduction! As a stationary fiend, the Passion Planner pulled at my heartstrings. I rely on my Google Calendar to organize my life, but it has not motivated me in my passion pursuits. When the Kickstarter campaign for Passion Planner launched for 2016 planners, I put my money where my mouth is and reserved the special edition blue cover. Why this special edition and not the gold one? Honestly I don't think I could handle a gold planner. Plus blue is my favorite color. And the etching artwork on the cover reminded me of Doctor Who! 2016 is a new year for Oblivious Nerd Girl and Angelia Trinidad's story is an inspiration for me and hopefully for you too! Oblivious meets Passion Planner's Angelia Trinidad.
Remember Color Your Troubles Away is this month! Tuesday, January 26th, 7-9pm at The Park's Finest (1267 W Temple St. Los Angeles, CA 90026) in Historic Filipinotown/Echo Park! Eat. Color. Relax your mind.

I really can't believe he's gone. I don't want to imagine a world where David Bowie isn't living. I just can't. I have spent many a night listening to his music, watching his performances, nerding out on his art.
Mike and I have often talked about being our favorite David Bowie for Halloween. I always choose the Goblin King. Even if Labyrinth scared the bejesus out of me as a kid, I always loved it. If we go to Comikaze this year, seeing this sign is gonna be rough.
Thank you for the music. And Mike put it brilliantly.
Rest in Glamour Mr. Jones.
Lessons From Lola took a small break with the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Also the next two episodes are special because they feature interviews with family! I interviewed a few relatives during our Thanksgiving party this past November. In Episode 4 we get to hear my Tita Cesa and Pops Oblivious share their stories about Lola Sabel and Lolo Gabing.
If you have a story about your Lola or Lolo and you want to share hIt me up on twitter @OblivNerdGirl with the hashtag #LessonsFromLola. Follow Oblivious Nerd Girl on Facebook (Oblivious Nerd Girl) and Instagram (@obliviousnerdgrl) for more regular oblivious-ness. You can also email your own Lessons from Lola at ObliviousNerdGirl at Gmail dot com Water. Agua. H2O. Doctors say that drinking at least 8 cups of water a day is the healthy way to go. I am not one to shy away from this. I like to drink water. I used to have a 32oz water bottle that I would drink two of before noon. That water bottle has since been retired and I'm always on the hunt for new bottles, cups, mugs, etc. Then my coworker came into work with this. Holy Snikes! It's a Keroppi water dispenser that holds 8 glasses of water. AND it's adorable!!! Had I known this thing existed I would have added it to my elfster list! Look at this amazing row of dispensers. It's THE CUTENESS. I've added several of these mini water dispensers on my Amazon wish list. If some kind soul would like to gift me one for the new year or my birthday later in the year or just because I would gladly accept it! The Doraemon is my favorite of this list. He's SO CUTE! And also I heart DORAEMON!!! Here's to drinking more water this year!
It's a rainy start to the new year. The news has been preparing us for the upcoming El Niño storms and now it's finally here. California is always in a drought, but the past couple of years have been especially bad. I'm hoping El Niño solves this problem! When I was a kid there was a storm season that felt like it lasted for the entire month of February. The song "It Never Rains In Southern California" won't make much sense now. However the rain does give me an excuse to post the most appropriate Eurythmics song.
In the past I would create a mind map for myself with all my intentions for the upcoming year. Last year instead of a personal mind map we created a family mind map for Casa Nailalas. This year the tradition continues. The theme for 2016 is "Year of More." Recently I've gotten into hand lettering and this mind map put my hand lettering, specifically brush lettering skills to work! You can follow my hand lettering and brush lettering journey (and other random oblivious adventures) on my Instagram feed (@obliviousnerdgrl)! Color Your Troubles Away is continuing this month! If you're on Facebook, you can RSVP here: Color Your Troubles Away - Facebook. For folks who aren't down with the book of face you can also RSVP via Google Forms below. I can't wait to coloring with you all this month!
What are your intentions for 2016? Whatever they are I wish you all the best of luck with them!
