Today's Oblivious Interview features Kyle Mizono. I watched Kyle do a spot at Tuesday Night Cafe and became a fan of her comedy. She is also rad because her favorite Wu-Tang member is Ghostface Killah and honestly anyone who loves him is okay USA in my book. (FYI Ghostface is my fav too).
Kyle will also be doing a set at the Comedy Comedy Festival this Friday, August 28th at the Cherry Poppins: First-Timer Stand Up Comedy show. Buy tickets here: Comedy Comedy Festival Tickets! The homies at The Parks Finest BBQ inspired my latest podcast adventure with this recent post about RTD.
This post about the bus system reminded me of my Lola Sabel. I have been thinking about her a lot lately. I have been floating the idea of a new podcast around and was trying to figure out what I wanted to talk about. Since I've been thinking about my lola the thought came into my head, "Why don't I just talk about all my stories about her?" And Lessons From Lola was born.
Thank you to this handsome gentleman for producing this podcast. The sound quality and editing are a lot better this time around because Mike has the knowledge and skills to edit these recordings. Things sound a lot more professional my 2nd go around podcasting.
If you have a story about your Lola or Lolo and you want to share hIt me up on twitter @OblivNerdGirl with the hashtag #LessonsFromLola. You can also email me at ObliviousNerdGirl at Gmail dot com Special thanks to my creative work group (Angel and Jen) for pushing me to get this podcast done! Also to Lakan De Leon for hooking me up with the excellent rondalla music by the San Francisco based Tan Brothers. Color Your Troubles Away

INVITE FRIENDS / STAY UPDATED ON FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/1479835732334916/1479836122334877/ I heart comedy. I subscribe to several podcasts and the overwhelming theme is that they are about comedy/pop culture, are hosted by comedians, or are simply about funny people doing funny things aka comedy comedians doing comedy comedy. The awesome and talented Jenny Yang (former Oblivious Interviews guest) plus several also awesome and talented collaborators such as Disoriented Comedy, Tuesday Night Cafe (shout out to another Oblivious Interviews guest Sean Miura), Kollaboration, and The Always Summer Project, and Angry Asian Man are producing The Comedy Comedy Festival on Thursday, August 27th through Sunday, August 30th! The Festival Festival will take place in various locations in Echo Park, Little Tokyo, and the Arts District. Get your Festival Festival passes here: TICKETS TICKETS!
A festival like this can't work without people power by volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering for the festival you can sign up here: VOLUNTEER VOLUNTEER! Lately I've been doing a lot of art therapy by coloring. There have been a few articles like this one from Gizmodo and this one from the LA Times talking about the adult coloring book trend. I've had Natural Wonders by Patrick Hruby for several years now. Secret Garden was recently picked up at Target this past Sunday. The practice of coloring has been a great stress relief habit and it has allowed me to use the many markers, pencils, and pens that I have hoarded and accumulated over the years. I put a call out to the Facebook Hive on what the interest would be like for a communal coloring night and now Color Your Troubles Away is now being planned! If you are local to Los Angeles and are interested in partaking in some coloring RSVP Here. Let's Color!
