First Five Words: Nostalgia. Funny. National Film Society Why these five words? Why see this movie?: Full disclosure I was a Kickstarter backer of this project. I have also been a fan of the National Film Society for quite some time. Their Youtube Channel is hliarious. When I had the time I would try to check out their live streams and participate with quirky questions. I love how this film brings up the 80s nostalgia for folks who loved all those Awesome Asian Bad Guys in 80s movies. I will admit I was one of those kids who rooted for them win. Sorry Daniel-san, I wanted Yuji Okumoto to totally kick your ass in Karate Kid 2. Yes he was the Asian equivalent of "Johnny Sweep The Leg," but he looked like kids I grew up with. Also in later years that asshole kid turned into Johnny Tsunami's sorta mean dad who learns to relax by the end of the movie. Question. Did anyone else wonder how a JA dude and a white lady end up having a Filipino kid? That always confused me about Johnny Tsunami. And yes I know I just revealed that I have seen Johnny Tsunami. It was a decent Disney Film people! But back to Awesome Asian Bad Guys. If you loved to watch those villains in the 80s kick ass this film is for you.
